Your heart breaks for the player in the foreground of this candid, emotional photo. Even though the focus is on him, the action in the background provides great context for what just happened. His despair is in sharp contrast to the celebration behind him. The technical aspects of this photo are also good – the white balance is great, the saturation is rich, the depth of field (no pun intended) is excellent, the rule of thirds is followed, the lighting and exposure are flawless and the blacks are rich. Well done!
